The Viking Explorers ROV Team with Electrical Technology instructor Scott Fraser (holding the big hammer) invaded St. John's Newfoundland for the 2007 MATE International ROV Competition last June. The team placed 5th overall and defeated all U.S. colleges and universities in the explorer division during the 3 day competition held at the Memorial University. The Electrical Technology Department offers full day and evening programs. The day courses are scheduled at twice the classroom hours per week as the evening program and can be completed in as few as four semesters. The subject matter and unit requirements for the day and evening programs are the same. This allows the students the ability to switch between day and evening programs as their needs change.

The Networking classes are articulated with the Networking classes at LBUSD allowing Long Beach high school students to enter the program in advance standing. They receive full credit for the courses they skip. Other students with prior training or experience can enter the programs in advance standing and earn credit by exam for courses they skip.

Students who complete the Electrical Technology Program are fully prepared to work in all areas of the electrical industry.

The Associate of Science Degree is offered in Electrical Technology.

Certificates are offered in Electrical Technology, Traffic Signals, and Mechatronics.
